Writing with New Media Week 1
Jan. 23rd, 2009 04:48 pmWhat I'm doing in this post: talking a bit about LJ and why I prefer it to blogs. My next post will focus on the reading (some of which is in our two textbooks, some of which is posted on the class blog; the reading is multimodal)!
Since this gets long, I'm identifying the sections at the start and then cutting, so you can go to any one section that interests you if you don't want to read the whole thing.
1. Why LJ is better than Blogs! Pure Propaganda!
2. I post my brainstorming of ideas for the class assignments.
3. I link to some of the vids that got me, a lifelong textaddicted non-visual person, thinking not only about the cool rhetoric of vids but also thinking, oooo, I want to make one. Since my major area of interest is fandom, I include some links to relevant posts about vids (some mainstream, some academic), and try to give some background on fandom for those who haven't heard me before/don't know about fandom from their own experience.
Note: fandom is vast, complex, multimodal, and I can only speak for my experiences in fandom. I do not claim that these are universal.
( 1. LJ so much better than blogs )
( 2. Brainstorming List for Class Assignments )
( 3. How Vidding Hooked Me )
