More on my SL literacy
Sep. 4th, 2007 01:17 pmSecond Life LJ Community: http://community.livejournal.com/second_lifers/
As soon as I made an account in SL, I went looking for SL communities in LiveJournal (it will make sense to those who share my LJ-centric focus!). Of course, I found some (and my fandom persona joined), but I've also joined the community above in this persona. For my students: it's interesting reading the reports and questions in the community (it's not terribly busy; you won't be seeing a dozen posts a day, I promise) because it gives an overview of a whole range of activities and well literacies in SL!
So far I've lurked only, not asking anything (I don't really know enough to ask anything), but I imagine that may change later on. A friend pointed out I may be the only person who was reading a SL text community (though they also post great pictures!) before even getting off Orientation Island! I tend to privilege text above image (that's moderating, in part thanks for LJ and Peter Jackson) even now.
